Mike is over half-way through the chemo! This Thursday is the last of the second of three cycles. We're finding that even Mike Sherman feels chemo.....eventually. He's really having a tough time with tiredness, weakness, and nausea; mostly dry heaves because his appetite's pretty low. Even the bear claws, which he has re-discovered after years of dieting off and on, hold little appeal.
Hans and his girlfriend, Anna, arrived Friday early am and have been fantastic! They've been helpful around the house, cooking, washing dishes, shopping, and last night they even got me drunk, which was needed, believe me. Hans has a lot of hugs for both of us. I can't say enough about how wonderful it's been having them here.
Our plan for today is to try to crack the nausea problem and to increase Mike's activity a bit more. Thursday is only three days away.....GLO

I've just returned after a brief vacation to Yorkshire to scatter my Father's ashes and heard from Tim today, that you had been going through a 'tough patch' this last weekend. I hope this passes quickly and your discomfort eases. I'm sure it will as I know that you are in good hands.
It was great to read that Hans has recently visited. I'm sure its wonderful to have him helping out (as well as helping Gloria to relax over a few glasses of wine or so – good lad!)
I saw a quote which I thought you might enjoy, that I think succinctly explains the thinking behind our European colleagues' flexibility with meeting times:
"A French 5 minutes is 10 minutes shorter than a Spanish 5 minutes, but slightly longer than an English 5 minutes, which is usually 10 minutes"
We thinking of you and Gloria and have great faith that you'll see off this illness. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Best
Cris, Lydia and family
