Today was the last of the first of three rounds of chemo. In case any of you have been wondering when all the disgusting side effects of chemo would show up...it was today, two hours after the chemo was done infusing and just before Mike was done eating lunch at the minister's house!
He's been home for a few hours now, much less clammy and sweaty and feeling pretty cold, but the runs have slowed down. We were going to have some BBQ with friends tonight as he usually doesn't feel anything for a few days. They are good friends, but probably not that good!
He is drinking low sugar Gatorade, which he says tastes like cough syrup and drinking protein shakes. I'm sure he'll be back on the phone sooner than most of you would want...GLO

Dear Mike:
I hope this note finds you having a relatively good day. Anne and I are keeping you in our daily prayers and thoughts.
I was in Duesseldorf last week. I strolled past the building that use to house our favorite stationary store... boy, did that bring back a flood of wonderful memories.
Heidi returned to Villanova this past week. The house is much more quiet without her. She really is the life of the party at our house. It will really be strange next year when Nate heads off to school.
Nate and I began archery lessons last month. We graduated from beginners and our now intermediate level archers. He just loves the outdoors and if an activity involves lots of gadgets and gizmos, all the better.
Mike, your courage is a true inspiration for us. Know that you, Gloria, and Hans are in our thoughts.
Paul
